The retail trade areas on the ground floor and the first storey are reached via the passage. Access to the shops (local suppliers) on the first basement floor is via an escalator from the central atrium of the passage. The office floors from the second to the fifth floor are reached from the passage via impressive historical stairway cores.

Due to its central position in the area, its dominating presence and severe calm, the printing plant forms the centrepiece of the design. All other Hofstatt buildings are joined to it, thus forming the different courtyards. The printing plant displays its imposing industrial form in particular to courtyard four, the courtyard that is additionally vitalised by the Bat Pavilion with its restaurant.
