The building operation in Welfenstrasse is consciously influenced by the large-format construction of the nearby WelfenHöfe and continues the subject of the dancing courtyards within this volume as a megastructure. The largely monolithic building conveys – particularly outwards towards the street – a clearly urban closed character in the meaning of Theodor Fischer and supports the anchoring of the WelfenHöfe in the urban context. The courtyard spaces within this block arose through staggered height superimpositions, overlappings and omissions and thus develop in a compacted, 3-dimensional link the principles of the dancing courtyards as well as the relationship between building and space within the courtyards.
