Extension to Bündner Kunstmuseum (Grisons Museum of Fine Art Chur)
The reorganisation of the urban relations is demonstrated by the preservational state of the Villa Planta in the multiple relocation of the entrance and the immense metamorphoses of the garden of this graceful, neoclassical villa. The new building generates a double relationship: on the one hand, it stands there with its front towards Bahnhofstrasse and forms the new entrance, and on the other hand, with the part lying in the park, it takes on the size and the almost quadratic dimension of the villa. The operation of the interlocked volumes with the recessed corner means that the park’s tree, a wonderful oriental sycamore, can be saved.
